We woke up last Saturday morning to hear the sound of running water coming from the leaking pressure valve in our residential boiler room. We reach out to the Ashton call Ctr. at 7:55 AM and anxiously explained our problem. They immediately transferred ...us to the plumber on call. He advised he would head right over. The plumber (Brent W.) was physically inspecting the issue within 35 minutes of our call. Thirty minutes later he successfully completed the required replacement, installation & clean-up. Despite being very early in the morning he was prompt and true his word. His friendly and informative manner defused our concerns and minimized any water damage. This company installed a new furnace at my townhouse in 2017. I had no complaints and was happy with the service which is why I contacted them about problems I was having with getting heat. I suspected the thermostat as the furnace would come on for a ...brief time then go off and no matter what I tried I could not get it to respond despite the temperature going to 13c at times. The weather was getting very chilly and as I am retired and home during the day I wanted the issue fixed as soon as possible. I called on Thursday or Friday and was told the first available appointment was on the following Thursday between 8-11am. I went and bought a space heater and prepared to wait. On the Thursday of the appointment I received a call at 11:15 that they were canceling and could rebook me the Wednesday of the following week. This was now 2 weeks from my original call. Had I known it would be 2 weeks I would have tried another company initially. I agreed at this point to being rebooked the following week but upon reflection and talking to some friends most agreed that this was extremely poor service to make me wait another week. I called at 8:30 on Friday and spoke to their call center/ booking office. I explained I was not happy with the long wait again and asked to speak to a manager. I was told the manager was not available and he would call me on Monday. In the meantime he advised they suddenly had a time at noon on that Friday but I had a specialist doctor appointment that had been booked for weeks, at 1:15 and I could not cancel at a few hours notice. He then, after some more obvious dissatisfaction from me was now offering a $50 credit for waiting another week. I declined and said I would still like to speak to a manager. It is now Monday at at 1:00pm and still no call. I realize that unexpected events can occur on a job that could result in cancelling a following appointment. Perhaps sending your employee over later that day and paying his overtime if required or even rescheduling for first thing the next day? Final result: contacted another company on that Friday and the problem was solved on Saturday It was the thermostat. That company was a recommendation from an acquaintance. Great guy that I dealt with and he now has my business for replacing my almost 20 year(yes) old hot water tank. Unfortunately Ashton has lost any goodwill I had for them. Worst business ever. Completely unreliable. Make appointments and then if something better comes along they just don't sand now a how up. Did it twice to us. And now a third time..said you would call but I guess just a PR stunt no call just like no show ...twice for appointments.we bought both a furnace and hot water tank and this is the way you treat customers.thanks.
